Up to now I've had Broadband Access via a Netopia router. I decided to go HiFi. and bought a USB Adapter? - netopia usb ter/gusb-e
I decided to get rid of the need for a phone line. Imagine my surprise when I discovered it only works if the phone is connected. Am I right in thinking that something is wrong, and a USB adapter, which does not need a phone line. If so, where can I doing something wrong?

Do you mean to say WiFi? HiFi is a high-fidelity, such as stereo systems. If you have purchased a USB WiFi, you need to connect a wireless network ". So you still need a provider of broadband and wireless router if you want to go wireless.
